Achromat is stuck!

Postby Bluesmudge on Wed Aug 20, 2008 2:23 am

Hey everyone,
I just got my V3 and I've been playing with configurations.
I seem to have gotten the Achromat stuck on my Canon XH-A1. I don't remember tightening it too much, but now no matter how hard I try to loosen it, it won't come off.

If you have any advice on how to remove the achromat please help me out.

Alright, never mind. I finally got the thing off.
I tried basically for hours using different strategies until my fingers and elbows were sore.
I ended up putting my camera in my refrigerator (in a plastic bag) for about 20 minutes hoping the metal would contract enough to reduce the friction on the threads. Then I used the back of an old mouse pad for extra traction and with as much force as I could apply it finally came off.

Needless to say, I’ll keep it much more loose from now on.

nice! good idea with the refrigerator. i had a similar problem with a stepping ring some time ago and i broke it (the ring not the cam). however since then i'm attentive that i dont tighten up gears too much when screwing on my cam...
