Lens mount - RNG35v3.1?

Postby evermail on Wed Dec 17, 2008 1:27 am

The new site looks great, but there's a problem. The FAQ says that the RNG comes with an Canon EOS mount (which would be EF), but then the product page says it comes with a Nikon SLR mount.

So which is it? Canon EF lens mount or Nikon F-mount?

Thanks! :)

Ditto that question - here's hoping it's a Nikon mount :)

Or an EF (or FD) to F flipper like on the old Letus. Oh, baby!

My experience with the V3 is that it came standard with an EOS mount, so to use Nikon lens you had to attach an additional Canon -> Nikon mount.

What I like about that is that the EOS can accommodate converters for many lens brands mounts. I an using Pentax and Nikon converters. If you keep a converter on each lens, then the slip on the rng35 very quickly.

Bluesgeek, we can customize the mount for the EOS type. This will also allow the Pentax K to slip in. This will be added as soon as we can get things figured out.

Thanks for keeping up on us!

Would that be a permanent mount, or could it be swapped out for, say, a Nikon mount later? Thanks.

The only issue with using the converters is that there is some slap or play in the connection between the converter and the EOS mount. When racking I have to apply some steady torque with my hand as I turn the lens focus so that the lens itself doesn't move as I change focus direction. I don't know if I've stated that clearly. I suppose a strip of gaffers applied after attaching the lens would probably solve the problem.
