The needed zoom?

Postby katamai on Thu May 08, 2008 6:39 pm

Hey there.

I'm getting used to the upside down picture when recording footage, but I really dislike the needed zoom in. I lose so much of the shot and it makes it really impossible to shoot inside cars and other small areas. Is it possible to get an lense where this isn't needed - or does every 35mm adapter do this?

I use Canon XM2 (GL2) and Canon EF 50 f/1.8 II.

Thanks!

hi , you can try whith a wider lens, but the wider the lens will be the more there will be depth of field.
By the way, flipping the xm2 lcd monitor is quiet easy by using a magnet and put it just behind the screen on the top right.

That would be a great trick. How do you get it back to normal?

Very nice. Is there harm that can come from the magnetic field (to the lcd ...or the tape?)

I wonder if this will work on other cams. I have the HV30.

Xm2 uses a magnetic sensor that can be fooled. Some camcorders use a mechanical switch. this will flip the cd vertically, the same as when you rotate the lcd for filming yourself for example, to switch horizontally simply go to the display menu and choose miroir mode options.
I don't Know about the other camcorders.

The HV30 uses mechanical switches:
